Heyyy, so Spider! You can do magic. What kind of magic can you do?

[ Hello, here is one Tidus. He's come into the dressing car, on the side covered in web silks and all those aesthetics relevant to the Voidtrecker's resident Spider (actual spider, and not the neighbourhood spider-boy. Plopped down on one of the cushioned stools from a vanity table, and getting himself comfortable in her vicinity.

He has questions, and this seems like a good place to start. Dressed even in the clothes she and Dread designed for him, just 'cause he's got to wear them sometimes (and he likes to dress up for Yuna...!) ]

[ Remember when there were two spider creatures and three spider-people on the train? Spider remembers.

She's comfy in her work hammock, a roll of patterned silk slowly weaving itself between two of her outstretched legs, and just blinks at him slowly.

Oh, right. Typing. ]

Spatial. Dimensional. Wind. Earth. Terrain. Fire. Abyss. Heretic. Dark. Shadow. Poison. Healing.

[blitzcheer]

[ Just let him leeeaannn over and read that.

Looking up. ] What's the difference between dark and shadow?

[ He wants to ask about a few of those things but he's going to go for that one first. ...or just that, he's not sure if he wants to make her type more than necessary. ]

One's stronger. Different spells.

[ bro just wait for the voice to read it out for you, stop leaning.

She scoots back. ]

[ He forgot for a second it was going to voice speak ok!! Leaning back out!! ]

Oh. Okay. [ A pause, and he has an idea, but- ] And you can use any of that magic with your fabric?

Yup.

[ SHE'S HELPING.

Ugh, no, she promised she'd talk more, and Dread's not here to... okay! okay, she can do this. She braces and types. ]

Technically those magic categories are inaccurate because I can construct whatever spell I want. And a lot of the spells from those sets are pretty pointless here, you know?

[blitzcheer]

Sure. I mean, I'll take your word for it. I think I know what half of those do?

[ He's not ashamed to admit it! Not right now, anyway. She's the magical spider here, not him. ]

But healing sounds like it'd be useful. Could you make a band that'd help people recover if they wore it? Or what about sticking the magic with somethin' else to make it work?

[ Similar to what Light was talking about with her flasks...? Wonder if they could do anything like that? ]

[ Funnily enough she's been experimenting with things a lot like he's describing. She pulls out two necklaces of spidersilk, both gleaming white. ]

Heresy resistance. [ she points to one. And then the other, ] Poison resistance.

[ It's been a tough project, trying to tie the magic there permanently. It's not there yet, she's pretty sure the magic will only last a few months at most. ]

Heresy is magic that attacks the soul. [ And she's not thought about regen bands. Huh. Guess that'd work if you couldn't just regenerate yourself..? She can think of a few Oranges she'd like to stick in regeneration effects. Hm. ]

[blitzcheer]

[ Huh! That gets him leaning in, but not much. He's surprised by how...pretty they are? ]

Way too pretty to look good on me. [ He grins, joking, sitting back. He rests a foot on a knee, leans his weight forward like that instead. ] Those'd be good though, when you need them. I wonder what'd be useful for us on most missions...?

[ He's thinking out loud. Hmmm. Lulu would be better at this... he should've asked Yuna... ]

Armour. [ She types it woefully, thinking of all of the injuries that hit Orange team last mission. And Red, and Purple, and Blue... Ugh. She types absently, thinking. ]

Healing would be good, but only when hurt. Magic bandages? Better to enchant uniforms with high defense?

[ She pulls out a replica of a Purple team hoodie, and sketches out a familiar magic circuit around it, so that the entire garment pulses with magic for a moment, and then fades to a metallic sheen. If she were back in the other world, she'd say she'd put Damage Resistance and Reinforcement on it, but those were just crutches for the magical effect, weren't they? It was just making the threads tougher, harder to pierce, and give them some spatial magic to soak the energy of blows. ]

[ The clothing pulses, and then-- ]

Whoa! [ Whoa, okay! Thaaat looks like a pretty cool effect, he's not gonna lie. ]

You can do that? To all the uniforms? [ Because wow would that make things better for most! ]

[kumoko]

Not exactly. [ She pulls out another scrap of fabric, this one one of the orange 'uniforms' they gave her, that she's never bothered to figure out how to put on after the first one got shredded. The same magic circuit winds around it, and this time the effect is much less pronounced.

To drive home the effect, she stabs a scythe tip straight through it, then does the same to the reinforced hoodie, which resists the jab for a good few seconds before starting to tear. ]

My thread is better.

[ Oh, hm. Carefully, she holds both up again, and conjures a tiny flame in a fifth leg. Her replica hoodie catches fire almost immediately. ] Downsides.

[ Ohhhh.


ooooooooo.


ooooooooooohhhhh. But okay, yeah, that's a downside. Uh. Hm. Even so, the way it catches flame so easily is cool in a way. Tidus is a simple guy--but a guy who knows that might not be so good.

But just to be sure- ] So anything you make's gonna be flammable 'cause of the threading. Maybe someone else knows a way to make it stronger? We have other magic users onboard...

[ Ah! ] Nita! She has her Speech and can tell object to do things! She told butter to stay melted!

[ See where he's going with this?! ]

[ She'd love to see where he's going with this, and she was definitely following for a good three sentences-- but she's currently distracted by the fire spreading up her leg.

SPIDERS ARE FLAMMABLE TOO, TIDUS, why didn't she think this through!!!! Why didn't she put out the fire!!!!!

Aaaaah!!!!!! ]

her flop is more out of embarrassment than anything, but she belatedly waves a hand and splashes a jet of medicinal water on herself. The burns along her leg begin to steam, and heal over.

Another wave, and a towel lands on her head. And a third, for a towel for Tidus.

......... wait.

wait where's the tablet. ]

[blitzcheer]

[ Oh, hi towel. It drapes and blankets his vision, and Tidus takes it into his hands, bewildered. ]

You weren't kidding 'bout the flames! [ And speaking- ] Hey, you okay?

[ She's...wet! And also drenched in some other kind of liquid steaming her limb. Is that good. Are you good, Kumoko. ]

[kumoko]

[ He gets a highly expressive shrug as she pats around underneath her for the device. Sometimes... being a spider... is worse.

Oh, whew, there it is. Her bulk shielded it. Thanks, bulk! ]

Downsides to being a spider too.

[ Is she shrugging at being okay... well, actually, she seems pretty fine for the chaos just a second ago. That's a speedy recovery, man. ]

I'll keep that in mind next time I see you around fire. [ Noted, noted! ] But, I think with the clothes... if you made another hoodie, we can see if Nita can speak it into not being so flammable?

[ 'Please, pretty please hoodie'? ]

Maybe. [ how does Nita's magic work? Who knows! Magic based on talking to things is like her worst nightmare and she tries not to think about it too much.

She produces a second dollop of medicine, smaller this time, and waggles the orb of liquid up and down her burnt leg. Healing spells are faster, but this is better for heat-related pain now she doesn't have painkilling skills, okay? ]

I can do that. [ No problem! Talk to Nita about anything and everything? He can do that in a heartbeat. But now he's distracted by the salve she's rubbing on herself, silent for a moment, but--

...did you make that too? [ He'll nod if he has to, to the ointment she's applying to herself. ]

Medicine Synthesis. [ One of those skills she's had to recreate with magic, but she doesn't regret it at all.

Because, you know.

Fire exists, and is terrible. ] It's a combination of poison and healing magic.
